About
Originally from England, I moved to Northern Ireland in 1999 to complete a BSc in Psychology and received an MSc in Counselling Psychology in 2006. Between 2004 and 2015 I worked in the community and then extensively with both serving and retired police officers and their family members.
I arrived in Nova Scotia in October 2015 and have been a private practice Counselling Psychologist since January 2016.

I believe the experience of a calm, open and flexible environment can provide an opportunity to explore the personal relationship you have with yourself and others. This opportunity for personal focus can provide clearer self awareness and help assist you in identifying any changes you would like to make.
As a Counselling Psychologist I can help you address emotional and social stressors in your life, with a focus on strengthening your abilities with decision making, problem solving and coping strategies.
Please note, if you require a diagnosis, clinical support or written reports then a Clinical Psychologist would be a better fit for you.
I am a certified EMDRIA therapist and have been practicing standard protocol EMDR therapy since 2010, I also have training in Attachment-focused EMDR. Whilst EMDR therapy is my main approach, I do have post graduate certification in CBT and training in ACT. I am an integrative Counselling Psychologist and will work closely with you to encapsulate the most suitable elements of these evidence based approaches to best fit your current needs and concerns and support you in identifying where to focus your valuable time in therapy.

Appointments
Fees are $210 per 50 minute session (plus 10 minutes file notation) and are collected at the end of each session. Payment by credit card, Visa/MasterCard Debit and Interac e-Transfer are all accepted.
Registered Psychologists are not covered by Medical Services Insurance (MSI), but many extended health plans provide coverage, so please check with your provider. Upon payment you will receive an official receipt, with my registration number, which you can submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement.
Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy
Please provide a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment, as this will allow the opportunity for another client to be booked into the time that was reserved for you. Missed sessions, or sessions cancelled without a full 24 hours notice (on business days Monday to Friday only) must be paid in full by you. As telephone/video appointments are offered this policy will be applied in unexpected events including (but not limited to) bad weather, sickness, car problems, work, childcare issues etc. Appointments scheduled on the first day following a holiday or weekend must be cancelled/rescheduled by 12 noon on the last business day before the holiday (e.g. Monday appointments are to be cancelled by 12 noon on Friday).
Please be advised that most insurance companies do not cover the cost of missed appointments.
